September 29, 2006

QSP NOTES:

©     The QSP/Nut Sale begins September 29 and runs through October 22.

©     If you did not already do so, be sure to contact Troy so you can pick up your packet or you can get it on Tuesday at the meeting.

©     Order forms will be due back at our meeting on October 24. (no later please)

©     Nuts will be delivered between November 15 - 17.

©     We will earn

o       10% of each magazine subscription ordered.

o       30 cents for each post card filled out with a name and address and

o       60 cents for each item sold!

©     If you THINK someone will be purchasing a magazine, don't send them the card but get the subscription personally.   We don't get anything for sales made through the mail, only the 30cents for the coupon.

©     The incentives are cumulative, ie:  sell 5 nuts – get patch, 1 subscription – get magazine patch, $85 in combined sales:   panda OR light and patch, $130 – tshirt OR CD and below, $180 – book OR jewelry box and below, $240 – backpack and below.  Be sure to circle on the back of the nut form what your daughter wants.

©     And for filling out the coupon book, there's a cool pen.  PLEASE help your daughter PRINT neatly.

©     No need to collect $$ now.  We'll do that when we drop off the orders.   Customers will be billed directly for the magazines.  Please remember to leave the pink copies with the customers.

©     If anyone is already ordering a magazine, they can renew it through here.

©     If anyone has a coupon for a special price, they will honor it.   Have the customer hold onto the coupon until they are billed and include the coupon with their payment.

Anymore questions???  Just ask.

(some items have been omitted to protect identities. --TTB)

I hope everyone had a good summer and school has gotten underway well for you.  Some information about Girl Scouts:

...At the end of the year, I asked if anyone would be interested in coLeading and there were no takers : (   As we need two adults to hold a troop and I am now in my last semester of school (I hope), I have teamed up with Troy, who also is lacking a coLeader.  She ran a Daisy troop this past year in town.  This is where we are at, as of now:

  1. We will be meeting Tuesdays at PMRS weekly from 3:30-4:30 when school is in session.  (Please be on time for drop-off and pick-up.  Have the girls use the bathroom beforehand and please give them a snack.  One hour is not long for program.)
  2. Each troop will keep their respective troop numbers and accounts.
  3. When our 3rd graders bridge (and me), the remaining girls will stay with Troy.
  4. Each troop will be asked to supply a helping mom at each meeting
  5. I am not available on Saturdays into December.  If any Saturday programs are available, someone else will need to fill in.  Come mid-november, Friday is included.

Due to the necessity of fill-ins, I would like to have all of the moms registered as well.  This is so you would be covered under the insurance umbrella.  As you know the cost is $10 but we can cover half so please bring $5 to the first meeting and I will have the forms to fill out.

Troy has already started up with her troop however I'm not available until 10/3 to start.  So Troop 1042 will begin on 10/3.  HOWEVER the QSP/nut sale is starting 9/29 (Friday beforehand).  Please arrange to meet Troy at PMRS on 9/26 at 4:30 in order to pick up your materials.

Two events that are approaching and are registration first come, first served...

  1. Spooktacular 10/20 - see www.mcgirlscouts.org and click on the Spooktacular link.  I've never been but the girls seem to have a great deal of fun at this event.  We'll carpool but may need extra drivers.
  2. :The Service Unit is having a Halloween Party on 10/27  7:30-9:00 in UB.  Transportation will be on your own

Please RSVP here asap, within the week.  Bring $5 for both, $3 each, on 10/3.  The troop will pick up the rest.  As I said these are both first-come basis.-

Other activities that we are looking at are:

  1. 11/2 - tentative - Game night
  2. **12/9 - Read To Lead at C.Center 10-11:30 a.m
  3. **11/21 - Junie B Adventures at C.Center 4:30 - 6:00 (this would be in lieu of our meeting)

**For more info on these programs check out www.mcgirlscouts.org  Transportation would be on your own, $2 for each program ($5 for all 3), troop will pick up the balance.  Let me know via EM of your availability.  As you know, Council activities get closed out.

That's about it for now.  A quick money recap:

  1. on 9/26, pick up your QSP materials from Troy at PMRS at 4:30.  Please don't be too early as it is her meeting with her girls.  Sale starts Friday 9/29.
  2. on 10/3, bring $5 for parent registration and $5 for both October programs (or $3 each).  But please LMK here within the week because I will send in the registration beforehand.
  3. Also, on 10/3  bring $5 for the additional 3 programs (or $2 each).  I won't be sending in these registrations until then.
  4. We did well enough on sales last year that we can keep the dues low... $25.  November 7 meeting will be fine for this.  As always Financial Aid is available for Girl Scout programs through the Council.  Contact me if you have any questions regarding this or check out the website www.mcgirlscouts.org  click on "forms" and check under "programs"

I think this may be enough info for now.  I hope I haven't overwhelmed you.  I just wanted to get this info out and figured this is the best way for now.  Keep in touch all and I'll see you on 10/3

Thanks bunches,

Cara
